Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026โ€ขLast Updated: October 5, 2026โ€ขVersion 2.4
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธOur Absolute Privacy Commitment

Test Your Gadget is engineered with zero-knowledge, 100% client-side execution. When you test your microphone, webcam, speakers, keyboard, screen, or gamepad, all data processing, audio sampling, and video streaming occur exclusively inside your web browser. We do not record, store, transmit, or monetize your media, audio streams, or personal inputs.

1.Information We Do Not Collect

Unlike traditional web testing portals that route user data through external proxy servers, Test Your Gadget is designed to operate without gathering your sensitive information:

  • No Audio Recording Storage: Raw PCM microphone audio sampled for volume, decibel calculation, and frequency FFT visualization is processed strictly in your local device RAM and discarded immediately.
  • No Video Capture Storage: Webcam and camera streams probed for resolution, framerate (FPS), and color balance are rendered directly to a local HTML5 Canvas and are never transmitted to our servers.
  • No Keystroke Logging: Key events captured during the Mechanical Keyboard Anti-Ghosting (NKRO) test are processed client-side via JavaScript KeyboardEvents and never logged or tracked.
  • No Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not require accounts, logins, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords to access any diagnostic tool.

2.Device Permissions & Browser Web APIs

To diagnose specific hardware peripherals, your browser will prompt you to grant temporary permissions:

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Microphone (getUserMedia)

Used strictly to evaluate input volume dBFS, signal-to-noise ratio, and optional local audio playback clips.

๐Ÿ“ท Camera (getUserMedia)

Used to inspect camera lens feeds, determine native hardware sensor resolution (720p/1080p/4K), and calculate true frame rate.

๐ŸŽฎ Gamepad API

Used to read joystick coordinates, analog trigger dead zones, and send dual-rumble vibration pulses without external drivers.

๐Ÿงญ DeviceOrientation / Sensors

Used on mobile devices to display gyroscopic rotational velocity and accelerometer tilt angles.

You may revoke these permissions at any time via your browser's site settings lock icon.

3.Cookies & Local Storage

We take a minimalist approach to local browser storage:

  • No Tracking Cookies: We do not use persistent advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party tracking pixels.
  • Local Theme Preference: We store a single key (theme: "dark" | "light") in your browser's localStorage so your visual preference persists across page reloads.
  • Session Diagnostic State: Guided 60-second hardware audit scores are cached in memory (sessionStorage) solely to generate your printable inspection report card, and are wiped when the tab is closed.

4.Server Logs & Technical Telemetry

When you request pages on TestYourGadget.com, our edge hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare / Vercel Edge) automatically records standard HTTP request access logs (such as IP address, user-agent string, referring page, and timestamp). These logs are processed purely for network security, DDoS protection, edge caching, and service reliability, and are automatically purged after 30 days.

5.Compliance with Global Privacy Regulations

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU/UK): Under GDPR, our legal basis for processing transient network requests is legitimate interest (maintaining site availability and network integrity). Because we do not store personal data or user accounts, there is no personal data to access, rectify, or erase.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA): We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. We do not engage in targeted cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): Test Your Gadget is safe for users of all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

6.Third-Party Links & External Software

Our knowledge hub and documentation pages may occasionally reference OEM dialer codes or manufacturer software. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party external websites.

7.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new browser Web API standards or updated diagnostic capabilities. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
